Why the report reads differently here

Three things we do that are not standard practice, and the reason for each.

Ranges matched to you

A reference interval is chosen for your age and sex and printed on the report. A single adult range applied to a nine-year-old is how normal results get called abnormal.

Borderline is not red

A value one per cent inside its limit prints amber and counts as in range. Printing it in the same red as a critical value teaches everyone to ignore the colour.

Your own history alongside

Where you have tested with us before, the previous value sits next to the current one. A rising creatinine inside the normal range matters more than a stable one just outside it.

What happens to your sample

  1. 1

    It is labelled

A barcode goes on the tube in front of you, whether you booked online or walked in. Nothing is written by hand.

  2. 2

    Give the sample

At a centre, or at home. Fasting only where the test genuinely needs it.

  3. 3

    We run and verify

On calibrated analysers, with quality control passed before any run is released.

  4. 4

    Get the report

On WhatsApp and email, password protected, and in your portal whenever you want it.

Questions people ask

Do I need to fast for a blood test?

Only for some. Fasting glucose and a lipid profile want eight to ten hours without food, water is fine. HbA1c, thyroid, vitamin D and a complete blood count need no fasting at all. Each test page says which applies.

How long does a report take?

Most routine tests are reported the same day, usually within six hours of the sample reaching the laboratory. Cultures take two to five days because the organism has to grow, and a few specialised tests are sent out and take longer. The turnaround is printed on every test page.

Can you collect the sample at home?

Yes, across Mumbai. A trained phlebotomist comes to you with the same barcoded tubes used at the centre, so the sample is tracked from the moment it is drawn.

Is the report accepted by hospitals and insurers?

Yes. We are NABL accredited, every report carries the accreditation number and the signing pathologist, and reports carry a verification code that can be checked against our records.

What if a result is abnormal?

An abnormal value is a prompt to talk to your doctor, not a diagnosis. If a result is critical, our pathologist telephones you or your doctor before the report is released, and the call is recorded on the report.
